I've often thought that Nancy Grace is just an evil witch, the worst of the worst that prosecutors have to offer, coupled with that intensive desire of the media to sentionalize any issue that will make them more money and get them more viewers - people and constitutional rights be damned.
Well, evidently she has finally driven an innocent woman to kill herself. Grace pounced on Melinda Duckett, who's son was evidently kidnapped out of her house while she was watching TV, when she appeared on her show. Shortly after being pounded by Grace, she shot herself.
Of course, this comes on the heals of Nancy Grace continually pushing Elizabeth Smart, the Utah girl who was kidnapped for about a year, causing Elizabeth Smart to literally demand that Grace stop asking her deliberately provocative questions (follow this link here for a transcript and video of that incident). Obviously, Grace cares more about her agenda and ratings than she does about human beings - one of the worse traits possible in a prosecutor (or ex-prosecutor).
Now, I don't know if the woman really had anything to do with her child's disappearance, she and the father were originally suspects. But this woman got no due process on Grace's show. She was verbally set upon, without any real ability to defend herself against the acerbic host, and was completely defenseless. Who knows, maybe the woman actually killed her child, and I don't have a lot of sympathy for the mother who killed herself. But, maybe she didn't. In that case, this is an even greater tragedy, one we should lay the feet of Nancy Grace, a truly terrible person.
I only wish they had some great defense lawyer on the air who would put her in her place.

You don't need due process with people who can't actually punish you. According to reports, it was a telephone interview. All she had to do was hang up.
Honestly, all I know about Nancy Grace is that she seemed real creepy in that video you linked. I'm not saying she's a nice person...
I certainly didn't mean to imply that she is legally entitled to substantive or procedural due process under the 5th and 14th Amendments when she appears on a talk show. What I meant is that Grace completely abused her by having her on clearly unprepared for what was going to happen, without notice, without someone to protect or stand up for her, on the phone, without even someone able to listen in and interject. This means that the process that Grace used was abusive, not what was due to her guest.
It is simply emblamatic of the manner in which Grace performs as a talk show host, and how she performed as a prosecutor, for which she has been found to have acted improperly in published opinions in serious cases.
"I certainly didn't mean to imply that she is legally entitled to substantive or procedural due process..."
I didn't really mean that you did, exactly (although you did mention constitutional rights in the first paragraph). I'm just not entirely ready to call Duckett a victim here, since she went on the show voluntarily... What did she think was going to happen? Did she think Nancy Grace was going to help her somehow? I don't get it.
windy, you assume ms. duckett had a clue who nancy grace is, a shrieking harpy, masquerading as a human being. actually, that might well be an insult to shrieking harpies.
as well, due process doesn't apply on tv shows, only the criminal justice system, so it's a moot point to begin with.
give ms. grace her due, she is consistent; she never met an accused who wasn't guilty, guilty, guilty! never let the evidence, or lack of, interfere with a good, self-righteous rant.
Nancy Grace gives "C" students from around the world a really bad name. She first slid out from underneath a rock durning the OJ Simpson trial and has not stop slidding since. She's the biggest creep on television.

Why did Melinda Duckett agree to do Grace's show to begin with? I live in Germany these days and actually had to search on Grace but surely Duckett must've had some clue that TV is an entertainment business and that if she wanted hugs, cuddles and fawning "care" she should've talked to Oprah or Maury or whomever's taken over that shtick.
Why would a woman who truly believed that her "missing" toddler might still be alive kill herself?
Good job, Nancy. Saved us all the expense of a trial, endless appeals, etc.
Unfortunately, those in the market for a brain have no understanding of the Bill of Rights and Constitution, or maybe there really is a failure of education in the schools. More likely ditched civics in 3rd period though.
Why is Nancy Grace on the air?
Oh, lord....here in Atlanta...we all know nacny grace. she's the former prosectuor who:
1. can only say won ALL cases b/c she cowardly refused to try anything she might lose;
2. Was twice nearly disbarred for unethical behavior...
3. had motions filed on her cases that ask the judge to order her to cover up her clevage during closing argument. which were granted.
People watch her...b/c people like angry people who shout their uneducated opinions. sad but true.
I went to Macon for the NCDC and saw her smarmy graduation pic...we were told not to deface it. I have never bought her act, but read about all her BS in this interview...

It's amazing this woman is still on the air
Very interesting post if you are looking for calling cards check out my website!
The family of Ms. Duckett is now suing CNN and Grace over the suicide.
We don't need persecuting witch hunters like Grace. Shes sick in the head.(we all lose people and shes no right to turn this into a career) CNN get a clue for the million that do watch her... believe me ...fire her... place someone else into this slot and a millions more will tune in to more to another... even more interesting person. Someone without witch hunter appeal.

"She first slid out from underneath a rock durning the OJ Simpson trial and has not stop slidding since."
She's been involved in cases since her fiance was murdered. The way I see it, people have one of two choices: Watch it or TURN IT OFF! If you dislike her so much STOP WATCHING.
I personally watch her show almost everyday. There are some things that I disagree with her on or the way that they are discussed, and I simply turn the television channel.
Slither? From a rock? Interesting. But I have to disagree.
I'm not a very big fan of Nancy Grace
Personally, I hate her F'ing guts. Every day I pray I read her name in the obituary...And I cannot wait until she gets killed in some kind of "unfortunate" accident. Yes, I hate her that much, and she is about the only person I can say that about. NG is the ultimate example of diarrhea of the mouth!!! She gets up there every night and runs her goddamned hog's mouth about subjects she has absolutely NO idea about, or education on. She is the absolute worst piece of shit on television...worse than "cheaters", "Springer", MTV, or "Maury"!!! ROT IN HELL YOU PIECE OF GARBAGE!!!
(and how do you really feal?)
Nancy Grace deserves to be raped by one of the sickos she's so obsessed with. She is evil and should go to hell.
